Pickity Place: Reviews & Ratings
Great getaway destination for lunch. The gardens are beautiful, unpretentious. The food and lemonades were delightful. A memorable excursion, worth the trip. Very reasonably priced as everything is included for just over $30. Definitely make reservations as they do scheduled seatings.
Amazing food and excellent wait staff, very charming and cozy atmosphere. Will definitely be going to try more food!
What a treat! A hidden treasure and treat! I randomly discovered this place on trip advisor as I perused the internet for quaint places in NH to visit. The drive to get there is beautiful. It is seems hidden as it is tucked away in the amazing tiny NH village of Mason. You feel like a kid in this schoolhouse style building where a school bell is rung to let you know it's time to go in and eat. The grounds were filled with a brilliant array of summer flowers. The walk throughout the garden was a wonderful mix of various refreshing aromas. In "Grandma's house" located in the garden you may spot an imposter in her bed as you enjoy the many scents of the drying flowers and herbs. This family style restaurant had excellent service and delicious food. This is a great spot for friends to get together or a couple to enjoy a nice lunch. The space is tight but cozy! I was lucky. I only got in because a reservation cancelled. My meal was perfect. More than my money's worth! Absolutely Sated! I was there in mid September and I will return in October(to try out the autumn menu)!!! Truly a must visit "Quaint Place".
Amazing experience and the grounds were beautiful! The gift shop and garden center were gorgeous, the staff super friendly, and the whole visit just felt really pleasant. We lucked out with a reservation the day before (seems rare from other reviews lol), and even though it’s on a dirt road, GPS took us right there. Food and drinks were excellent and super “instagramable”. The price is all-inclusive—including drinks—which felt like a great deal. In today’s world, where lavender lemonade is $7 and coffee is $5, it was nice to get a cup of coffee with dessert without extra charges. That said, my entree (the orange sesame chicken) was underwhelming…. Overly sweet, and the rice was mushy with many broken grains. I love a good Asian-fusion dish but the rice alone shows the kitchen doesn’t quite have the technique down. My friend’s garden vegetable dish was 10x better. She gave the food 10/10. That said, amazing value, great food, and I’ll 100% be back
I took a look at the owner’s responses to reviews and I’ll admit I was a little intimidated to put a less than stellar review after seeing those (perhaps this is intentional). But I would like to add some honest thoughts as someone who had a really nice time overall, but in hindsight had been left with some negative feelings. My mother and I came in December. I’m new to driving so mom doesn’t like me to drive us around just yet, and she has to drive very carefully due to arthritic pain in her hands, but even with that and some bad weather conditions we still were only 10 minutes late for our reservation. I tried calling Pickity on my cellphone to tell them we’d be a few minutes late because of the snow, (which was a surprise to us since we were driving from two states away) but because the reception is so bad near where the restaurant is I was unable to get calls through. I thought fair enough, we’ll hopefully still be able to keep our seats. When we got to the place, mom parked and I ran in to keep our table, but the woman at the front desk was rude and snappy with me for being late! I said I tried to call but that didn’t matter. She’s lucky my mom wasn’t there because I clam up when someone is rude to me, but mom really doesn’t like it when that happens. It immediately made me feel unwelcome, and she just pointed to where the table was. I was willing to just suck it up, it was our fault after all for being caught in the snow and still making every effort to get to our reservation, but I really don’t think that was right for her to do. And what was the reason we had to be right on time within minutes anyways? I saw people come in after us, and can see from reviews that sometimes lunch starts late. 5 Pepperidge farm crackers for two people told me all I needed to know about the portion sizes going forth. I think this was the weirdest part of the meal because so much of the food is homemade/they pride themselves on treating you to a house made meal. Maybe a little more bread would be nice instead of store-bought crackers? The bread rolls were very small half the size of my hand. Thankfully the wait staff were incredibly kind and hospitable, so we were able to get more crackers for the dip. The soup actually really wowed me, and thankfully we don’t have a big appetites so mom and I weren’t hungry after everything, but the portions are definitely on the smaller side since this is a multi-course service and honestly the price seems pretty good for what we got. I would like to come back in the spring to see the beautiful grounds and try these herbal flavors in a new season, but honestly I’m a little hesitant. We drove so far and were so excited only for me to feel shot down as soon as I came in. Overall we did enjoy the food and loved the gift shops! A lot of gift shops struggle these days and only stock cheap imports that you see everywhere, but there were plenty of unique items at both shops and we left happy. Please don’t hate me for my criticisms on the food and the way I was treated!
This place was great! It is reservation only, so make sure you plan ahead! The food was delicious! With several courses, and 3 or 4 flavors of lemonade that were to die for! Pickity place is a little hidden gem, in the woods. Picturesque gardens, and two gift shops, we made an entire afternoon of it! Well worth the drive.
You have to make reservations weeks in advance. They have 4 seating times. Everyone(as in the entire restaurant) gets seated at the same time. You have to request your meal at the time of reservation. There is no rush to finish but they don't seat the next grouping until everyone (in the restaurant) has vacated the previous seating. Meal consisted of soup, salad, crackers, bread, entree and dessert. There are several beverage options. No alcohol. Everything runs very efficiently. The parking lot was small and muddy. There is a gift shop. Definitely an experience worth trying.
Charming atmosphere, delightful restaurant and grounds. Food thoughtfully curated and plated with an emphasis on playfully herb flavor. Unique as it is delightful. One of the best priced dining experiences we've seen. Complementary drinks-the lavender lemonade is to die for
